About Kristi Mae
Kristi discovered yoga in her native country, New Zealand. Inspired to teach, she trained in the Anusara method in 2007, and taught at PURE Yoga in Hong Kong for a few years before attending the Advanced Forrest Yoga training there in 2010. The experience of training in Forrest Yoga broke her down, blew her mind and changed her relationship with herself. Kristi became a certified Forrest Yoga teacher after completing the Forrest Yoga Foundation training in 2011 and was mentored by Sinhee Ye in Korea. She went on to assist Ana Forrest, in workshops and trainings around the world, whilst also teaching her popular and much-loved classes, workshops and retreats in the UK and Europe.

I first discovered yoga in London in 2000. With a background in media, anthropology and a stint in PR, I swiftly chose to trade my desk for a yoga mat, to study yoga at its source. I maintain a daily practice at Astanga Yoga London where I assist Hamish Hendry, and make regular trips to Mysore, India, where I received the KPJAYI Authorisation to teach in 2014. I have studied with a number of inspiring teachers that include R. Sharath Jois , Rolf Naujokat , Gingi Lee and John Scott.
I am fascinated by yoga in all its forms, its effects, and the intricate links between physical and mental well-being. I love helping and watching students develop, and believe yoga is a lifelong learning process: a dedicated, regular – and yet fun – practice can only bring forth increased energy and happiness.

SUNDAY ASHTANGA IMMERSION WITH MILKA
10:00am — 12:30pm | All Levels
During this workshop we’ll focus on ways to find a balanced and holistic way to practice, which will suit your body and mind. Ashtanga Yoga is often considered an intense style of Yoga, but the truth is that practiced with a correct approach it is suitable for anyone, no matter your age, weight or flexibility.
The workshop is appropriate both for regular practitioners and total beginners. A great opportunity to go deeper into the Yoga practice, taking it to the next level. Traditional Yoga aims for the practice to become more than just the physical exercise, but a meditation, connecting the body, mind, and breath.
We will take a look at ways of practicing Ashtanga Yoga that go beyond the physical, with a deeper focus on Pranayama. How can we use pranayama breathing techniques as a way to set up a meditative practice?
During the workshop we will start with the standing sequence of the Primary, followed by a sitting practice, pranayama and a long relaxation in savasana. We’ll finish the workshop by sharing a cup of tea & refreshments.
