MODIFICATIONS FOR PREGNANCY YOGA with Shimmy Levy-Riley
1:00pm — 4:00pm | All Levels
Workshop for New & Trainee Teachers
12 May 2018 | 1-4pm | £40Join Shimmy for this specially designed workshop dedicated to Trainee yoga teachers and newly qualified teachers to learn how to confidently support pregnant women in your classes.
This workshop serves as a bridge between a regular Teacher Training and a Pregnancy Yoga training. Please note that attending this workshop will not qualify you to teach a prenatal yoga class but aims to give you the understanding and confidence, as well as the fundamental tools to offer alternatives & modifications to those women attending your classes.
You will work on modifying classic yoga postures, understand pranayamas to avoid & which alternatives to offer. You will also learn how to give the expecting mum greater confidence on how to move, so she can keep on enjoying her regular practice and maintain a space in public classes.
The practice of Yoga offers tremendous benefits to women in every phase of pregnancy, labour and childbirth and throughout the postpartum period. It allows them to connect more deeply with themselves and their unborn babies & it is a wonderful gift to be able to support the mum-to-be.
Come prepared with questions & queries!
Open to experienced practitioners from the 2nd trimester.12 May 2018 | 1-4pm | £40

About Shimmy Levy-RileyShimmy’s teaching is gentle and kind, encouraging and nurturing. With a smile and love for teaching, she seeks to instil a sense of lightness and ease in students, whilst helping them to connect with their bodies and minds. She creates sequences that suit the energy and level of each class, whilst challenging and inspiring students to honour their abilities and presence on and off the mat. She believes that in both life and teaching one should be grounded but light, dedicated, mindful, aware and understanding of personal limitations that are inherent in each individual.
Shimmy experienced her first yoga class in 2003 and knew from then on that she wanted to share the benefits of the practice through teaching. She has never looked back since. After years of an established practice, Shimmy completed a Yoga Alliance RTY500 Astanga Vinyasa Teacher Training with Julie Martin & Melanie Cooper at Brahmani Yoga Goa, India, in 2009. Trained to teach Pre and Postnatal Yoga, Shimmy also teaches Restorative classes having trained with Jodi Boone.

A Long Class on a Sunday with Kath
5:00pm — 7:30pm | Intermediate
In this longer class we have a little more time to go in depth with aspects of asana technique. Usually there will be more inversions, (handstand, forearm balance, headstand) but it does vary every month.
The class will take the form of a flowing, dynamic, alignment based asana class, finishing with some simple breathing practices and short sitting meditation, and sometimes a longer guided relaxation, Yoga Nidra. Not suitable for total beginners, but all levels are welcome.
